Self Promotion

One of the things I am not very good at is self promotion. With that said, I am working on this skill and am going to take this post to do just so. Last summer I studied and got my real estate license in the state of Oklahoma. Real estate has been a passion of mine since I was in college. Before moving to Oklahoma I even got my real estate license in Virginia while living in the DC area. I never had a real opportunity to take advantage of a license until recently and I jumped on the chance. One of my good friends owns a new home construction business and I market and sell his homes. I am very thankful for this break and that I have a great broker to learn from.

My ultimate goal would be to work in real estate full time, right now I still have my full time job at the Postal Service while working in real estate is my “hobby”, as my husband likes to call it. I used to say that I “wish” I could make real estate my career, but I have now realized that I need to change that “wish” to a “goal”. One step at a time I honestly believe I can reach this goal.

Safe and Sound

Last night we had some crazy storms and tornadoes in our area, but I am happy to say we are all safe and sound here in Norman. We did have a few minutes of fright as a tornado was headed straight toward our home and we headed to our neighbor's storm shelter. Luckily the twister took a turn and missed our neighborhood.


On a much lighter note I thought I would share a few pictures from my phone.


I snapped this picture this morning while walking the dogs.









You can't tell what it is from the blurry picture, but it was a possum, looked just like this:











This morning as I was headed to work I noticed this huge web a spider had spun from my dash to the front seat. If you click on the picture to enlarge it you can see how crazy cool the web is.








And last but not least, I put some pretty bows in Owen's hair last night, doesn't he look pretty :)

On My Nightstand

I thought I would share with you the books I currently have on my nightstand. Okay, they are really not on my nightstand, they are in a basket on the floor in my bedroom along with my never-ending stack of magazines.

My dad bought me this at Anthropologie this past weekend. I have read many reviews on it and can't wait to sink my teeth into it.

Living The Savvy Life: The Savvy Woman's Guide to Smart Spending and Rich Living

Another book I have read good reviews on. If you ask me we could all use a little help living more savvy.

My Father's Daughter: Delicious, Easy Recipes Celebrating Family & Togetherness

I snagged this from One Kings Lane along with an autographed bookplate by Gwyneth herself. As soon as this book arrived I sat down and devoured it like a novel. Cannot wait to make some of the recipes myself!

A Place of Yes: 10 Rules for Getting Everything You Want Out of Life

Another book I received for my birthday. I started reading this on the plane to Ohio last week and can't put it down. I love Bethenny's humor and sense of reality, she is really down to earth.

Summer Beauty Secrets

I tore this page out of the latest Harper's Bazaar and have been holding on to it until the sun decided to finally stick around. I love the travel pouches, might just have to make a special trip to Target and check out the Calypso St. Barth collection. Speaking of trips, I am headed to Ohio this week to celebrate my sister's college graduation and visit with friends and family, praying the sun is out there as well. Cheers!
